A 3-POINT SHOOTING BARRAGE: College of Idaho made back-to-back 3-pointers to start last Saturday's game against Oregon Tech on its way to making 14 for the game. The 14 3-pointers are the most since the Yotes made 18 against Warner Pacific on February 1, 2014.
MAMA MIA: Freshman
Mia Austin had one of her best games of her young career, last Saturday against Oregon Tech. Against OIT, Austin scored a game-high 20 points on five 3-pointers and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.Â
GETTING TO THE FOUL LINE: Through the first eight games, College of Idaho has shot 160 free-throw attempts compared to just 68 for its opponents. The 160 free throw attempts ranks second (first: Multnomah: 163) in the CCC. The Yotes went to the line for a season-high 38 attempts against Willamette.Â
REJECTION: College of Idaho has blocked a shot in its seven of its first eight games, including a trio of four blocked shot efforts. On 11 occasions in 2021-22, the Yotes rejected at least four shots with a season-high  eight against Evergreen State on February 12.
ONE-TWO PUNCH: The tandem of
Lexi Mitchell and
Sienna Riggle have been key contributors to the success of the Yotes women's basketball program. Heading into this week's action, Mitchell has recorded 11 double double performances; most recently against Willamette (11/25/22) and Riggle has posted eight with her last double double coming against Montana Tech (11/19/22).Â
STRONG START TO SOPHOMORE CAMPAIGN: Sophomore
Taryn Riley has picked up where she left off after a promising start to her career at College of Idaho as a freshman. The Athol, Idaho native has increased her production with the Yotes from 24.4 to 26.9 minutes per game; 6.1 to 10.6 points per game and 2.4 to 2.9 rebounds per game.
ACADEMIC SUCCESS: The 2021-22 Yotes earned a spot on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Honor Roll. College of Idaho had the 16th-highest team cumulative grade point average in NAIA for the 2021-22 season at 3.554. This is the third-consecutive year that College of Idaho is on a WBCA Academic Top 25 Honor Roll. The Coyotes were one of two Cascade Collegiate Conference schools on the 2022 WBCA Academic Top 25 Honor Roll. Lewis-Clark State also made the top 25.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME: Friday's opponent Eastern Oregon has played four games in the J.A. Albertson Activity Center compared to just two in the Quinn Coliseum in La Grande. The Mountaineers posted a 3-1 non-conference record in Caldwell and had its home opener, last weekend when they faced the same two opponents as the Yotes - Oregon Tech (Dec. 2, W, 91-83) and Southern Oregon (W, 67-54).Â
CONFERENCE PLAY: The Cascade Collegiate Conference began play with the 1993-94 season with the Yotes joining the conference in 1995-96. College of Idaho, formerly known as Albertson College, won a league title in 2000-01 with a 14-2 mark and another in 2009-10 with a 14-4 effort. The Yotes were also the conference tournament champions in 2009-10 and 2011-12. All-time in CCC games, College of Idaho has a mark of 279-178 with five-straight seasons of double-digit wins. Â
