CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho men's soccer team capped off homecoming weekend with a victory over Providence, 4-1.
One of the stories of the game has to be the play of goalkeeper
Tom Baynard-Smith. The Australian recorded seven saves in the contest, with multiple saves coming in succession to keep the ball out of the net.Â
On the offensive side of the ball, the scoring got started on a penalty kick by
Emil Powles in the 32nd minute.
Eric Hornung followed that up just seven minutes later as the Yotes were able to take a 2-0 lead. Just before half,
Hugo dos Santos put the ball in the back of the net off an assist by
Nico Erlank to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break. Tomeu Nebot scored the lone goal for Providence, while
Ben Garrick added his name to the score sheet to give the team the 4-1 win.
"Six points on the weekend is important in this very competitive league," added head coach
Thom Baker. "Great job by the boys this weekend and we're looking forward to the upcoming road trip."
Up next is a trip to Klamath Falls to take on Oregon Tech next week.
