CALDWELL, Idaho – Just a few days after homecoming was celebrated on campus, the College of Idaho volleyball team continued its five-match homestand with a matchup against No. 1 Eastern Oregon on Tuesday night.
The visitors from nearby LaGrande, Ore., who came to town after losing its first Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup on Saturday, managed to post a .247 hitting percentage on its way to a 25-20, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20 win over host College of Idaho.
College of Idaho (5-16, 4-10 CCC) were paced by a pair of double-digit kill efforts from
Chayla Slavin (11) and
Janae Rayborn (10) in the loss. Slavin went on to hit at a .385 clip and Rayborn posted a .159 hitting percentage. Plus, Slavin put her hand on six blocks including a pair of solo efforts and teammate
Isabelle Combs had eight kills, six digs and two service aces.
Eastern Oregon (20-2, 13-1 CCC) landed three players with double-digit kills including Sade Williams, who had a match-high 14, plus teammates Cambree Scott and Madison Morgan had 13 and 10, respectively. A two-setter lineup by the Mountaineers' saw Hannah Legerwood and Alexis McMurtrey record 28 and 25 assists, respectively. Scott led a strong frontline presence for EOU, who had nine team blocks, with seven blocks. Madison Morgan and Preslee Jensen ahd five and three, respectively.
The five-match homestand continues on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. when the Yotes will host Lewis-Clark State.
