CALDWELL, Idaho – Four College of Idaho players scored in double-figures, as the Coyotes went wire-to-wire in a key 72-55 women's basketball victory over Corban University in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Coyotes (14-9, 8-7 CCC) completed their first season sweep of Corban since the 2014 season, using a commanding 19-2 edge in bench points and committing just six turnovers – the fewest number in at least 20 years.
Sienna Riggle led all scorers with 20 points – including back-to-back baskets in a 11-2 second quarter run that helped C of I to a 32-19 lead – a margin that would grow to 39-23 at the break.
Despite having just eight players in uniform, the short-handed Warriors (4-18, 3-12) made a game of it in the third quarter, as Gemma LaVergne hit consecutive 3-pointers in a 14-2 run, cutting the deficit to 41-37.
C of I's lead was just 52-46 early in the fourth quarter – but
Emma Anderson scored six points and
Kaylee Krusemark converted a 3-point play in a decisive 15-6 run – icing the home win.
Lexi Mitchell and Anderson each had double-doubles – Mitchell scoring 14 points, with 12 rebounds and five assists, while Anderson had 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Riggle added nine rebounds and career-high five blocks, Krusemark scored 12, with
Averee Porter adding a career-high nine.
LaVergne scored 18 points with nine rebounds in the loss for Corban.
C of I returns to action tomorrow afternoon, hosting Bushnell at 3 p.m.
