Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Yotes Outlast Corban in Overtime, 76-71

CALDWELL, Idaho – Drew Wyman scored the game-tying basket with 35 seconds left in regulation and scored the lone field goal in overtime, as The College of Idaho snapped Corban University's 7-game win streak with a 76-71 victory inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The No. 10-ranked Yotes (19-4, 13-2 CCC) completed the season sweep of the Warriors – despite squandering a 14-point first half lead.

Corban (14-9, 9-6) trailed 41-27 late in the first half after a fast break lay-up from Ricardo Time, but a 10-0 run spanning the halves, including 3-pointers from Jordan Newt and Kendall Moore, got the Oregon school back in the contest.

C of I kept the Warriors at bay for the majority of the second half – despite Corban cutting the margin to a one-possession game seven times. Derek Wadsworth canned a triple with just under four minutes to go – giving the Yotes a 66-61 lead.

The Warriors turned to Moore, who tied the game with a reverse lay-up at 67-67 and gave the visitors their first lead since early in the contest after a steal and lay-up with 48 seconds remaining. The Yotes fought right back, as Wyman converted an inside basket to tie the score – but missed the go-ahead freebie.

On the rebound, Newt was fouled – giving Corban a chance to take the lead – but the guard missed the front end of the 1-and-1. C of I was unable to win it in regulation – as shots from Charles Elzie and Time rimmed out in the waning moments.

In overtime, Wyman scored off a lob with three minutes to go and a Time free throw pushed the lead to 72-69. Moore had an opportunity to tie the game at the line after being fouled on a 3-point attempt – canning the first two free throws – but after a timeout, missed the third.

C of I got the rebound with Time and Elzie each hitting two free throws to ice the victory.

Jake O'Neil led the Yotes with 16 points and eight rebounds, with Tyler Robinett scoring 13 and Time adding 13 points and six assists. Both Elzie and Ivory Miles-Williams had strong games off the bench, Elize scoring 11 and Miles-Williams recording seven rebounds.

Moore led all scorers with 21 points and Newt scored 16 – as Corban forced 20 Coyote turnovers.

C of I had a 48-30 rebound margin – but the Warriors held a slim 16-15 in second-chance points.

It marked just the fourth time in the over 100-year history of the C of I program that the Yotes have played back-to-back overtime games (1972, 1980, 1996). It was the Coyotes 21st-straight home conference win.

The homestand closes tomorrow afternoon, hosting Bushnell at 5 p.m.
