Williams Scores Career-High 16 in Tough Loss to OIT

CALDWELL, Idaho – A breakout game from D'Nia Williams was spoiled by a late Oregon Tech rally, as the Lady Owls topped College of Idaho, 69-67, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Abby Kreiser hit a 10-footer in the lane with one second remaining to break a tie, with the OIT (15-5, 8-5 CCC) defense not allowing C of I to attempt a final chance.

Williams was the story for C of I, scoring a career-high 16 points – including knocking down her first four 3-point attempts.

OIT built a 14-5 second quarter lead, before the Yotes (13-8, 7-6) rattled off a 19-8 run to take their first lead. Williams scored eight points in the surge, Allie Cannon added three inside baskets and Emma Anderson canned a 3-pointer.

The Coyotes led 32-29 at halftime and opened the second half on an 11-4 run, with a Lexi Mitchell jumper giving C of I their largest lead of the night at 43-33.

Leading 51-43 late in the third quarter, C of I watched Tech rally, as a Kristin Farrell tying the game at 52-52 with a long 3-pointer.

C of I regained the lead at 66-63 on a Mitchell triple with under two minutes remaining, but a Courtney Clemmer lay-up and two Shelby Blodgett free throws gave the visitors the lead.

Sienna Riggle tied the game with 10 seconds left, splitting a pair of free throws, setting up the finish.

The Yotes lost despite making 7-of-12 3-point attempts. Mitchell had her sixth double-double, scoring 14 points with 13 rebounds. Riggle had 13 points, Cannon scored 12, with Taryn Riley recording six assists.

OIT had five players in double-figures, with Maddyson Tull leading the way with 14 points and nine rebounds, with Kreiser posting 12 points and 10 assists.

C of I returns to action on Tuesday night, traveling to Eastern Oregon for a 5:30 p.m.
