CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho made their first eight shots of the night and blistered the nets at a 63-percent clip, as the No. 13-ranked Coyotes recorded their most lopsided win ever against Southern Oregon, routing the Raiders, 97-47, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
Drew Wyman scored 15 of his game-high 17 points in the first half, as the Yotes (17-3, 11-1 CCC) won their tenth-straight game – setting up a first-place showdown with rival Oregon Tech tomorrow at 5 p.m.
C of I left no doubt in the first three minutes – as Wyman scored inside,
Ricardo Time canned a triple and Wyman added back-to-back 3's – as the Coyotes posted the first 11 points of the game.
The Yotes continued the onslaught, as a 17-2 run, fueled by five points from both
Ivory Miles-Williams and
Charles Elzie, extended the lead to 38-11.
The Raiders (11-9, 8-4), who had their own 7-game win streak snapped, pulled within 58-33 early in the second half on an Atmar Mundu floater, but the rally ended there. C of I would limit SOU to just one made field goal over a nearly 10-minute stretch, with consecutive
Nathan Burman 3-pointers capping a 33-8 run that gave the Coyotes an 91-41 lead.
C of I dominated the glass, 44-20 and held SOU to 33-percent shooting – equaling the mark in the previous meeting between the clubs. The Coyotes scored a season-high in points, with their .633 field goal percentage their best shooting night in a decade. The hosts also made a season-best 12 3-pointers.
It was the largest margin of victory in the 83-game series, surpassing a 101-58 C of I win in 1992.
Wyman finished 7-of-8 from the field, while Time converted 6-of-9 field goals, part of a 15-point night. Elzie tied a career-high with 16 points, while
Jake O'Neil scored nine points with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Josh Meyer led the Raiders with 14 points.
