Trio of Goals Pushes Yotes Past Beacons in 3-1 Win

CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho scored a pair of goals in the second half to break a tie and win 3-1 over Bushnell on Saturday night at Simplot Stadium.

The Yotes (7-2, 4-0 CCC) wasted little time getting on the board in the contest, striking first in the seventh minute on a Madison Glascock goal. After a midfielder for the Beacons (2-6, 0-3 CCC) played the ball back to a defender, Glascock capitalized by winning the ball and earning a 1-v-1 opportunity against the keeper. She would finish off the sequence by sliding a roller past the keeper and into the right side of the net to make it 1-0.

Bushnell answered in the 16th minute after Blake Danna won a ball and fired a 20-yard strike past lunging C of I keeper Hannah McFadden to even the score at 1-1.

Sydney Clements broke the tie in the 69th minute shortly after checking into the game, with the goal coming right after the second of back-to-back corners from Payton Mongelli. The ball initially hit off both Brynna Herridge and Glascock, then was headed again by Herridge to the left-front side of the net where after bouncing off a defender for the Beacons the ball was placed perfectly for Clements to boot it in with her left foot.

In the 73rd minute, Lily Schlake dribbled past the entire Bushnell defense to create a strong opportunity for the junior which she would convert on, burying a 10-yard shot into the back-right corner of the net to extend the lead to 3-1. The goal was her sixth of the season. Schlake finished with a team-high eight shots and five on goal.

Over the course of the win, C of I outshot the Beacons 38-7, including 21-3 on frame. The 38 shots in a game marks the seventh highest single-game total in program history.

Shae Waters made two saves in the final 45 minutes to work a scoreless second half for the Yotes.

C of I will play host to rival Eastern Oregon next Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Simplot Stadium.
