SPOKANE, Wash. – Taking on an NCAA Division I opponent to open up the exhibition season, The College of Idaho posted more shots and shots on goal, but a pair of first half Logan Dorsey goals provided the difference, Gonzaga topped the Yotes, 3-0, at Luger Field.

Dorsey connected on unassisted goals in the 12th and 16
th minutes to give the West Coast Conference team a lead they would not surrender – despite constant pressure throughout by C of I.
The Coyotes held a 15-13 edge in total shots – including a 7-5 edge in shots on goal – but were unable to crack the tandem of Johan Garibay and Thomas Ewert, who combined for seven saves.
C of I had a chance to cut the margin in half late in the first half, but Garibay turned away a
Kristian Quiros penalty kick with a diving stop to the right post.
A total of 20 C of I players saw action in the friendly – with 14 of the athletes making their debut in a Coyote kit.
Liam Kelly had a pair of shots on goal, as did Quiros,
Caio Pereira,
Joao Bastos,
Emil Powles and
Alexius Westlund.
The Yotes will remain in the Spokane Valley to train and have a scrimmage with the Community Colleges of Spokane, before returning home to prepare for their regular-season opener next weekend at George Fox.
