CORVALLIS, Ore. – Five College of Idaho softball players were honored by the Cascade Conference on Thursday as All-Conference and Gold Glove selections were announced.
CASCADE CONFERENCE POSTSEASON AWARDS
A total of four Yotes filled out the first and second-teams, tying a program record that has previously occurred in 2007, 2009, 2014 and 2019.
Shortstop
Haley Loffer took home first-team All-Conference accolades after being named an honorable mention in 2019. The junior from Coeur d'Alene is hitting .395 this season with 12 doubles, five triples, a team-high seven home runs and 25 RBI. She has scored a single-season program record 56 runs to go along with 23 stolen bases.
Freshman
Kaily Christensen hit .409 with 14 doubles, a homer and 45 RBI over the course of the regular season to join Loffer as a first-team selection. The Woodland, Wash. product is just nine runs driven in away from tying the C of I single-season record.
Rounding out the first-team selections for the Yotes was pitcher
Katelyn Wilfert, who is 14-4 with a 2.06 ERA and 101 strikeouts in a team-high 105 1/3 innings of work so far this season. The junior from Meridian is holding opponents to a miniscule .215 batting average on the campaign.
Senior third baseman
Trystin Crofts was chosen as a second-team All-Conference pick after hitting .376 with 14 doubles, one triple, one home run and 34 RBI. Crofts has also stolen 16 bases. A native of Tooele, Utah, Crofts is the program record holder in hits, runs scored, total bases and triples. She has appeared in 200 games in her career which is tied for the most ever as well.
Kylie Smith was recognized by the conference as an honorable mention pick in addition to taking home a Gold Glove. At the plate, the senior second baseman from Coeur d'Alene is hitting .336 with 14 doubles, one triple, three home runs and 32 RBI this year. She leads the team with 13 sacrifice hits.
C of I begins the Cascade Conference Tournament presented by U.S. Bank on Friday at 4:30 p.m. PT against the winner of No. 3 Oregon Tech and No. 6 Warner Pacific. The tournament is taking place at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Ore. The Yotes are ranked No. 15 in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches Poll.
