LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State used a grand slam home runs in a pair of big innings to take Game 3 of a 4-game series with College of Idaho, 18-4, at Harris Field.
The No. 6-ranked Warriors (34-3, 26-1 CCC) got a Riley Way grand slam in a 6-run fifth inning to break open a 5-1 lead, with Zach Threlfall hitting a seventh inning grand slam to cap a 7-run inning.
C of I (19-27, 11-20) struck first, as
Jonah Hultberg hit the fourth pitch of the game over the right field wall for his third home run of the season. However LC scored a pair of unearned runs in the second and added three more runs in the second to take the lead.
Trailing 11-1, the Yotes cut into the deficit in the seventh, as
Carter Vieira and
Ben Hansen each had RBI singles. However, LCSC batted around in the bottom of the inning to put the game away.
Way went 3-for-6 in the win for LC, with both Vieira and
Tanner Leaf recording two hits for the Yotes.
The two teams close out the weekend series tomorrow with an 11 a.m. (PDT) match-up.
