CALDWELL, Idaho. –
Lexie Hibler scored the winning goal in the 93rd minute to lift The College of Idaho to a 2-1 defeat of Montana State Billings on Friday night at Simplot Stadium.
The Yotes (5-3-1, 3-1 CCC) tallied the tiebreaking goal off a
Payton Anderson corner kick which found Hibler directly in front of the keeper. Hibler would do the rest, finding the back of the net on a header for her first goal of the season.
C of I came from behind to pick up the victory, as the Yellowjackets (2-4) struck first in the second minute when Jordan Roe scored off the rebound of a Jillian Hust shot.
Trailing 1-0 in the 63rd minute, the Yotes converted after a MSUB yellow card, with
Lily Schlake pushing forward to
Megan Wilkinson on a thru ball. The goal from Wilkinson - her second of the season - evened things up at 1-1.
Neither team was able to find the net the rest of the way in regulation, forcing extra time, with Hibler finishing things shortly thereafter to give C of I a big non-conference win.
The Yellowjackets outshot the Yotes 12-9 for the contest, however C of I held a 6-4 edge in shots on frame.
In the second half and overtime,
Kylee Atkins was active in goal for the Yotes, gathering multiple balls in front of the net on dangerous opportunities for MSUB. Atkins made one save for the contest and
Shae Waters hauled in a pair in the first half.
C of I, which sits in the second spot in the East Division of the Cascade Conference by one point behind Eastern Oregon, will host the Mountaineers next Sunday and Monday in a key series. Fans can follow the action live on the Yotes Digital Network.
