CORVALLIS, Ore. – College of Idaho guard
Jada Reed was honored by the Cascade Conference as both the Freshman and Newcomer of the Year, the league office announced on Monday.
Reed, a freshman from Rocky Mountain High in Meridian, tied for the team lead in assists for the season despite missing the first five games of the year.
The point guard started for head coach
Janis Beal on five occasions in her first year at the collegiate level, tallying 2.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while adding nine steals on the defensive side of the floor.
Reed led the Yotes in assists during the course of four games and hauled in a season-best nine rebounds in a 64-45 win over Simpson on Jan. 22.
"It was great to have Jada come in as a freshman and get some big minutes," Beal said. "She did a great job stepping in and being able to lead the team from the point guard position."
