LEWISTON, Idaho – An outstanding tight pack of runners helped The College of Idaho men's cross country team remain unbeaten during the 2020-21 season, upsetting host and No. 6-ranked Lewis-Clark State to claim the team title of the LCSC Winter Invitational at Lewiston Orchards.
Despite LCSC placing three runners in the Top-5, the Yotes had six of their seven scoring runners in front of the Warriors fourth finisher, as C of I eked out a 39-40 win, with Northwest University a close third (52). No. 21 Carroll was a distant fourth, as all seven C of I scoring runners finished in front of the Fighting Saints first racer.
Freshman
Logan Hunt had a tremendous race, placing third overall (25:23), just 13 seconds off the pace of individual winner Cole Olson of LCSC.
The C of I pack tightened – as just 15 seconds separated their second and fifth-place runner.
Cole Campbell placed sixth overall (26:06),
Brennen Donahue was in eighth (26:09),
Ian Jackson took tenth (26:16), with
Braden Heath in 12th (26:21).
The No. 16-ranked Coyotes look to return to action in two weeks at the Walla Walla Invitational.
