CALDWELL, Idaho – Five Lewis-Clark State players tallied double-digits as the Warriors won the second game of the best-of-three Cascade Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank 97-66 on Sunday.
With the win, the Warriors (12-5) earned the automatic bid from the CCC to the NAIA National Tournament.
The Yotes (4-14) jumped out to an early lead for the second game in a row, taking a 10-4 advantage 3:41 into the contest.
Allie Cannon ignited the scoring punch with a 3-pointer within the first minute off a
Tayla Sayer assist, with Sayer then contributing a tip-in,
Kenadee French a triple and
Kiersten Rasmussen a bucket in the paint.
Facing the early deficit, LCSC answered back with an 11-0 run over the next three minutes to take the lead for the first time at 15-10.
An 18-6 run in the second quarter prevented C of I from leading again, as the Warriors were resilient and avoided falling victim to any large runs.
Five players reached double figures for LCSC, which was led by the 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block from Kiara Burlage.
Cannon paced the Yotes with 11 points on the night. French and Rasmussen each scored nine points, with Rasmussen finishing with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Lexi Mitchell also hauled down eight boards.
Sayer scored a season-high six points while making an impact in multiple other areas as well, including a team-high five assists to pair with three rebounds and a steal.
Seniors
Kate Renfro and
Sophia Jackson each hit two 3-pointers, with Renfro knocking down a triple as time expired.
LCSC shot 34-of-63 (54 percent) from the floor and 8-of-18 (44 percent) from downtown while also knocking down 21-of-22 (96 percent) of their free throws. The Yotes went 23-of-73 (32 percent) overall and 12-of-35 (34 percent) from beyond the arc.
