CALDWELL, Idaho –
Jake O'Neil posted game-highs with 29 points and 12 rebounds, as The College of Idaho honored their five seniors with their most convincing win of the season, a 107-71 victory over Multnomah University inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Coyotes (7-7) won their fifth game in six outings, improving to 7-2 against non-NCAA Division I schools heading into Thursday's Cascade Conference Tournament opener at No. 4-ranked Lewis-Clark State.
C of I made their first four 3-pointers on the night, including a pair from O'Neil in a 28-7 first half run that gave the Yotes a 37-12 lead just 11 minutes into the game and take a 53-30 lead to the locker room.
The Lions (0-4), who will play in the CCC's spring season, cut the margin to 71-53 on a Ben Schneiders triple, but 12-straight C of I points, capped by an alley-oop dunk to O'Neil put the game away.
O'Neil converted 10-of-14 field goals, adding six assists in the victory – posting his fourth double-double in the last five games.
Otto Taylor made the most of his Senior Night start, scoring a season-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting – including four 3-pointers. Fellow senior
Connor Desaulniers had eight points and seven rebounds, while
Ricardo Time had three steals.
Zach Richardson scored 23 points to lead the Lions, with MU finishing the night 15-of-48 from 3-point range.
NOTES:
- Two other seniors, Jacob Russell and Ivory Miles-Williams were honored prior to the game, but could not play due to injury
- Derek Wadsworth scored a career-high 15 points with five assists, making 5-of-8 3-point attempts.
- Charles Elzie added 12 points and five assists, with post Paul Wilson scoring eight points with six rebounds
- Reserve guard Connor Cooper put the Yotes over the century mark with a 3-pointer – his first collegiate made field goal
- C of I made a season-best 57-percent from the field and finished with a 47-26 rebound edge
