CORVALLIS, Ore. - Following a banner 2021 cross country season, The College of Idaho swept each of the Cascade Conference major awards, presented by WVT Laboratories, announced today by the league office.
Logan Hunt was named Men's Runner of the Year,
Ellyse Tingelstad was named Women's Runner of the Year, while
Austin Basterrechea swept both Coach of the Year awards.
Hunt had a dominant second-year with the Yotes, winning three individual races - including the Cascade Conference Championships - while placing third overall at the NAIA National Championships. He becomes just the third C of I runner to earn the honor, as Greg Montgomery earned the award in 2012 and 2013, with Marcos Cervantes earning the distinction in 2018.
Tingelstad rolled through the months of October and November in dominant fashion - winning the Warrior Invite in California and followed it up with a victory at the CCC Championships. The second-year Coyote capped the year by earning her second-straight All-America honor, placing eighth overall at the NAIA Championships. She is the third C of I runner to earn the award - as Stephanie Helm earned Runner of the Year honors in 2008 and 2009, with NAIA Hall of Fame runner Hillary Holt earning the distinction in 2012 and 2013.
Basterrechea picked up his eighth and ninth CCC Coach of the Year award for his career - as the Coyote head man secured his third men's title in the last four years and helped the women's team to their third-straight league title.
