LA GRANDE, Ore. – Ten kills each from
Jade Warren and
Danielle Neuman wasn't enough for The College of Idaho, as No. 14-ranked Eastern Oregon topped the Yotes 25-14 25-23, 25-21 inside Quinn Coliseum.
The loss for the Coyotes (10-14, 7-9 CCC) snapped a two-match win streak, as C of I closed out a grueling 5-match road trip and ended a string of nine road matches in 11 contests.
EOU (19-5, 14-2) dominated Set 1, opening the match on a 17-5 run, as Cambree Scott posted four kills and two blocks in the period.
C of I battled back in the next two sets – erasing a 14-7 deficit in Set 2, thanks to three kills from Neuman – tying the set at 22-22 on an
Austyn Mauzy kill. However, a Jet Taylor kill got EOU a side out and a Scott kill ended the frame. The Yotes were even 19-19 in Set 3 after a
Brenna Hawkins kill, but Scott had a block and a kill to give the hosts the lead for good.
Warren and Neuman combined to hit at a .421 percentage on the night, with Warren leading C of I with three blocks.
Sidney Frith had 30 assists and nine digs in the loss.
Breanna Shaffer had 11 kills and Scott posted 10 kills and seven blocks in the win for the Mounties.
The Yotes return home Friday night, hosting Multnomah at 7 p.m.
