CALDWELL, Idaho – Oregon Tech topped College of Idaho 3-1 on Saturday night to create a three-way tie atop the Cascade Conference standings.
With the win by the Owls (10-2, 7-1 CCC), the Yotes (10-4, 7-2 CCC), OIT and Corban each currently have 21 points with just two weeks of play left.
After
Larissa Wegner scored her second goal in as many days in the 19th minute to make it 1-0 C of I, OIT would respond with three straight tallies of their own. The Wegner goal was assisted by
Payton Anderson and
Lily Schlake.
The Owls started their scoring in the 26th minute when Kiah Wetzell footed a rebound off an Amanda Seward miss into the net to even things up at 1-1.
Just before the end of the first half in the 40th minute, Mehana Ortiz won a ball following a goal kick and beat the keeper to give OIT the lead for good.
Nyah Kendall added an insurance goal in the 75th minute on a thru ball off a counter-attack from Ortiz to make it 3-1.
OIT outshot the Yotes 14-13 with a 6-5 edge in shots on frame. The Owls had four corners to three for C of I.
The Yotes remain home for a meeting next Sunday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day against Carroll.
