Yotes Prevail Over Carroll 2-0 on Rainy Senior Day

CALDWELL, Idaho – Playing on a soggy Sunday at Simplot Stadium for Senior Day, College of Idaho tallied a pair of first half goals to win 2-0 over Carroll.

The Yotes (11-4, 8-2 CCC) managed the conditions well in the first 45 minutes, outshooting the Fighting Saints (5-7-1, 4-5-1 CCC) 10-3 over that time frame.

Brynna Herridge started the scoring in the 28th minute after a Carroll foul gave her a free kick opportunity. Herridge lined it up from 35-yards out and launched it over keeper Sarah Conway, who grazed it with her fingers but could not stop it from going in.

Up 1-0 in the 44th minute, Larissa Wegner found the net for the third straight game and the fifth time overall on the season. Wegner received the ball off the touch from Megan Wilkinson and sent the ball into the net on a blast from 25-yards out.

The 2-0 halftime advantage would hold the rest of the way as senior goalkeeper Shae Waters had three saves as part of a shutout for C of I.

Overall, the Yotes outshot Carroll 12-10 and posted an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. The Fighting Saints generated six corners to three for C of I.

Prior to the game, the senior class for the Yotes was honored.

C of I concludes the regular season next Friday and Saturday with a road trip to Washington to play Evergreen and Northwest. Heading into the final weekend, the Yotes are tied with Southern Oregon for second in the conference with 24 points, while Oregon Tech sits in first with 27 points. The team that wins the regular season title earns an automatic qualifier to the NAIA National Championships.
