LEWISTON, Idaho –
Anthony Pannullo delivered a 3-run double and
Austin Van Horne struck out nine batters, but a 6-run fifth inning was the difference, as Lewis-Clark State completed a 4-game sweep of the College of Idaho with an 11-3 win at Harris Field.
No. 19-ranked Warriors (11-5, 6-2 NAIA West) scored single runs in the second and third innings – but Van Horne kept C of I in the game, fanning at least two batters in each of the first four innings. LCSC chased the right-hander in the fifth – taking advantage of a pair of Coyote errors, with a Dalton Harum 3-run double giving the hosts an 8-0 lead.
The Coyotes (6-19, 2-6) cut into the margin in the seventh, loading the bases on a pair of walks and a
Caden Leiblein double. Pannullo followed with a double to the right-center gap to clear the bases – but the LCSC pen retired seven of the final eight batters to close out the game.
C of I pitchers held LCSC to just seven hits – with Jack Johnson going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Five different Coyotes had one hit in the loss.
The Yotes open an 8-game homestand this Friday, meeting Park University Gilbert at 3 p.m.
