BOISE, Idaho – An inspired performance by College of Idaho freshman
Lauren Kreutzer at No. 2 singles against Division I Boise State was the story of the afternoon, as the Yotes dropped a 7-0 decision to the Broncos at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center.
Facing BSU's Vanessa Timm, Kreutzer held her first four service games and held a 4-3 lead in Set 1, before Timm earned a key break to claim the set, 6-4 – and went on to earn a win in Set 2, 6-2. Her effort marked the most games won by a Coyote player against a Division I opponent in at least 20 years.
The Broncos (7-2) swept the three doubles matches – including 6-0 wins at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. C of I won a game at both the No. 1 and No. 6 singles positions – as
Alex Sorte fell to Holly Stewart at the top of the ladder 6-0, 6-1, with
Sydney Ewing losing a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Jovana Kuljanin at No. 6.
C of I returns to action tomorrow in Boise, meeting in-state rival Lewis-Clark State.
