PORTLAND, Ore. –
Ricardo Time led six College of Idaho players in double figures with 15 points, as the Coyotes rode a big offensive night to an 87-66 victory over Warner Pacific inside C.C. Perry Gymnasium.
The No. 3-ranked Coyotes (22-3, 15-0 CCC) ran their win streak to 16 games – their longest win streak in 65 years – making 55-percent of their field goals, including 13-of-25 shots from outside the 3-point line.
First-place C of I sits three full games ahead of Southern Oregon in the league standings and four games ahead of third-place Northwest with just five games left in the regular-season – with the regular-season champion earning an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II National Championships.
The Knights (12-11, 7-7) hung around early, taking a 17-13 lead on a Miles Brown basket with 12 minutes left in the first half. Time struck quickly, knocking down three 3-pointers,
Derek Wadsworth added two more and
Talon Pinckney canned a sixth – all in a 20-4 run that gave the visitors a 33-21 lead.
WPU pulled within 45-38 early in the second half, but a Time triple and back-to-back Pinckney baskets keyed a 12-2 run that extended the margin to 57-40 – with a
Jake Bruner jumper giving C of I their largest lead of the night at 73-49.
The Coyotes held a 44-25 edge on the glass in the win, with the team assisting on 24 of their 34 made field goals.
Time finished 5-of-6 from 3-point range, with Pinckney scoring 13 points, with five rebound and four assists.
Nate Bruneel scored 12, with Bruner,
Ivory Miles-Williams and
Jalen Galloway all scoring 10.
Brown had a game-high 21 points for WPU.
