CALDWELL, Idaho – Corban ended the game on a 21-5 run to defeat The College of Idaho 66-61 in Cascade Conference action on Friday night in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
Jordan Woodvine ignited the rally for the Warriors (9-5, 5-1 CCC) by finishing a layup through contact just prior to the conclusion of the third quarter. Woodvine, the second-leading scorer in the conference entering play on Friday, finished with 19 points on 8-of-22 shooting and also posted seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals.
Leading 56-47 at the start of the final quarter, the Yotes (4-10, 2-3 CCC) would be blanketed by the visitors in the final 10 minutes, with an
Emily Harwood layup with 6:41 remaining the only made field goal in the final frame.
C of I held leads of as large as 11 in the third quarter, including 45-34 after a
Sophia Jackson basket with 8:56 left and 56-45 with 17 seconds on the clock after
Emma Anthony split a pair of free throws.
Freshman
Kenadee French was the star of the night for C of I, posting 16 points in the first 20 minutes, including 13 in the second quarter. The Rigby product concluded the night with a career-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 5-of-9 from downtown.
For the 12th time this season, senior guard
Mackenzie Royce-Radford would also finish with a double-digit point output, pouring in 11 points and finding her teammates for five assists.
Lexi Mitchell posted nine points, five rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals for the Yotes, who also saw a strong effort from
Kiersten Rasmussen off the bench, with the junior adding nine points, three rebounds and two steals.
On the interior, Shaelie Burgess posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors.
The Yotes play host to a Northwest Christian team on Saturday that snapped a 50-game home winning streak for Eastern Oregon tonight with a 66-63 victory in La Grande. Game time tomorrow is set for 5:30 p.m.
