CALDWELL, Idaho –
Ricardo Time scored nine of his season-high 22 points in a 30-5 second half run, as the College of Idaho withstood upset-minded Walla Walla, 77-58, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Coyotes (18-3, 11-0 CCC) ran their win streak to 12 in a row – while becoming the third team in Cascade Conference history to start a league season 11-0, equaling the mark established by the 1996 C of I team that won the NAIA title and the 2007 Warner Pacific squad.
The visiting Wolves (5-15, 3-7) controlled the first 22 minutes of the game – making their first seven 3-point attempts on the night. Artur Borges-Paraizo made four first half triples, including two in a 13-4 run that gave the visitors a 32-21 lead late in the period.
WWU led 38-28 after a Zayne Browning 3-pointer with just over 18 minutes left in the game – but Time canned a triple to start the big rally. The junior would hit another trey, with a
Jake Bruner 3-ball giving C of I their first lead of the night at 41-40. The Coyotes would crank-up the defensive pressure, forcing a Wolves turnover on 6-straight possessions – as
Nate Bruneel hit a 3-pointer and had a 3-point play, with Time converting his own 3-point play – ballooning the C of I lead to 58-43.
C of I limited the visitors to just 32-percent shooting after the break and scored 19 points in the second half off of WWU turnovers.
Time finished 5-of-9 from 3-point range and added five rebounds.
Ivory Miles-Williams scored 13, Bruneel had 12 points and seven rebounds,
Connor Desaulniers had eight points, eight rebounds and three blocks, with
Talon Pinckney leading the Yotes with seven assists and six steals.
Borges-Paraizo scored a career-high 19 points for the Wolves, with Kiandre Gaddy logging a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
C of I closes out a 5-game homestand next weekend, hosting No. 15 Southern Oregon and No. 5 Oregon Tech.
