OLYMPIA, Wash. – A dominant effort on the glass and 12 fourth quarter points from
Kaylee Krusemark lifted The College of Idaho to an important 66-63 conference win at Evergreen on Saturday night.
The Yotes (6-11, 4-4 CCC) finished the game with a 46-26 edge on the boards, including 21 offensive rebounds which led to 25 points off of those second chances.
A back-and-forth contest throughout, the C of I bench ultimately gave head coach
Janis Beal's team the lift it needed by contributing 41 points.
Krusemark led the scoring punch off the bench with 18 points on a 5-of-9 effort from the floor, including 4-of-7 from downtown. The sophomore guard was clutch when it mattered most in the fourth quarter, where she had 12 of her points and nailed three triples.
Emma Anthony provided a major impact off the bench as well, chipping in 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for her first career double-double. Anthony added eight of her points during a pivotal four-minute stretch in the second quarter where the teams swapped leads four times.
C of I started and finished the game hot from the floor, hitting 58 percent of shots in the first quarter and 70 percent in the fourth quarter.
For the game, the Yotes were 25-of-58 (43 percent) from the field and 8-of-23 (35 percent) on 3-pointers. The Geoducks (3-9, 3-6 CCC) went 21-of-57 (37 percent) from the floor and 6-of-22 (27 percent) from outside.
Mackenzie Royce-Radford posted a double-digit point total for the ninth consecutive game for C of I with 12 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals.
After setting a school record with 38 points in a win against Northwest earlier this week, Evergreen's Trinity Betoney had 19 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and two steals to lead the Geoducks on Saturday.
The Yotes host rival Eastern Oregon on Wednesday night to begin a stretch of five consecutive games at home.
