Yotes Win at Evergreen 67-53, Extend Win Streak to 9

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Nate Bruneel scored 12 of his 17 points in the second half, as the College of Idaho completed a weekend sweep in the Puget Sound area with a 67-53 victory over the Evergreen State College, inside Constantino Recreation Center.
 
The Yotes (15-3, 8-0 CCC) ran their win streak to nine games and picked up their 39th-straight victory when allowing fewer than 60 points. C of I made 54-percent of their second half field goals in the win.
 
The two teams battled through eight lead changes in the first half, with C of I settling for a 25-24 lead at the break.
 
Leading 34-30 early in the second stanza, the Yotes broke the game open with a 13-3 run – as Talon Pinckney started the rally with a trey, Bruneel converted a 3-point play, Ricardo Time splashed a 3-pointer, with Ivory Miles-Williams and Bruneel adding inside buckets.
 
C of I led 57-43 with eight minutes left, but the Geoducks (3-12, 0-9) battled back, holding the Yotes without a made field goal for five minutes, cutting the margin to 57-51 with 4:57 to go.
 
The Coyotes closed out the game with a defensive stand of their own, as TESC was limited to just one made field goal the rest of the night, with C of I making 6-of-6 free throws in the final two minutes to cap the win.
 
Pinckney had 13 points, Jake Bruner had nine points and five boards, with Miles-Williams scoring eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.
 
Desmond Hudson led TESC with 14 points, with LaBrandon Price adding 12 points and seven rebounds – as C of I held the Geoducks to just 38-percent shooting from the field.
 
The Coyotes return to the Treasure Valley this week to start a 5-game homestand, beginning with a Wednesday showdown with rival Eastern Oregon.
