2019 Football Game Notes (Week 4 at Rocky Mountain)

TOP DRAW IN THE FRONTIER:
Two big crowds to open the 2019 have the Coyotes leading all Frontier Conference schools in attendance and ranked No. 2 in the NAIA. C of I is averaging 4,191 fans per game on the season – well ahead of Frontier Conference foes Carroll College (2,890), Montana Tech (2,652), Southern Oregon (1,982) and Rocky Mountain (1,900). Edward Waters (4,417) still leads the NAIA in attendance, with the Yotes ahead of Evangel (3,960), Thomas More (3,911), Morningside (2,566), Southeastern (2,526) and Lindsey Wilson (2,075) in the NAIA attendance race. C of I has outdrawn 14 NCAA Division I teams; would rank in the top-half of the NCAA Division II in attendance; with the Yotes well ahead of all NCAA Division III Northwest Conference teams – George Fox (2,104), Puget Sound (1,757), Pacific (1,444), Pacific Lutheran (907) and Willamette (901).
 
OFF A BYE WEEK:
Saturday, the Yotes will be coming off their fourth bye weekend since football returned in 2014 and look to improve on a 3-0 mark. In 2015, the Yotes took a week off and returned with a convincing 48-17 victory at MSU-Northern – the first of two straight wins – in 2017, C of I defeated Carroll, 21-6, staring a string of five wins in six games. Last season, C of I dominated Carroll after a bye week, 28-7 – the start of the current 9-game win streak. The Coyotes have had 17 total previous bye weeks, recording a 7-10 record after the week off - not including the month off in preparation for the 1953 Refrigerator Bowl (games following a bye week include - 1926 vs. Montana State (W 7-0); 1933 at Idaho (L 14-0); 1934 at Willamette (L 47-0); 1948 vs. Lewis & Clark (W 13-0); 1950 at Eastern Oregon (W 66-6); 1951 at Hawaii (L 31-13); 1968 vs. Boise State (L 16-7); 1969 at Lewis & Clark (L 40-8); 1971 at Lewis & Clark (W 36-30); 1972 vs. Lewis & Clark (L 23-16); 1973 at Westminster (L 25-0); 1974 vs. Westminster (L 24-7); 1975 at Westminster (L 21-0); 1977 vs. Lewis & Clark (L 37-23); 2015 vs. MSU-Northern (W 48-17); 2017 at Carroll (W 21-6); 2018 at Carroll (W 28-7)).
