CALDWELL, Idaho –
Jordyn Boswell had a career-high 17 kills, leading the College of Idaho to a four-set victory over The Evergreen State College inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Coyotes (9-4, 4-2 CCC) won back-to-back matches in league play for the first time this season – remaining unbeaten all-time at home against the Geoducks with the 25-23, 17-25, 25-18, 25-17 victory.
C of I won the final two sets with a pair of big runs – as two Boswell spikes keyed a 5-point push to end Set 3 after the Geoducks (6-10, 4-3) had cut a Coyote lead to 20-18 – while in Set 4,
Austyn Mauzy had two kills and teamed with
Kaydre Thompson for consecutive combo-blocks in a 10-2 run that helped the hosts take a 22-11 lead.
The opening set featured 12 ties, with the visitors getting kills from Chloee Hunt and Tasha Hungate to take a 21-19 lead. C of I got a key side out from
Ashley Pagan – starting a 5-point run that featured kills from Mauzy and Boswell and a Pagan ace.
TESC stunned the partisan crowd in Set 2, as Hunt recorded two of her match-high five blocks and Renita Gray had two kills in a 9-2 run by the Geoducks that helped the visitors extend a 15-14 lead.
C of I had a .192 to .154 edge in hitting percentage – including a stellar .406 clip in the deciding Set 4. Pagan had 13 kills and 16 digs, Mauzy logged 13 kills, with
Abigail Guinn finishing with 45 assists and nine digs.
Drew Dobney led the Yotes with 20 kills and two aces, with
Alyssa Espley recording a career-best 12 digs.
Gray led TESC with 11 kills and Hunt added 10 more, with Sierra Wolff recording 38 assists and nine digs and libero Leiko Yamauchi finishing with 21 digs.
The Yotes hit the road next weekend for matches at Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech.
