SALEM, Ore. – The College of Idaho dropped its Cascade Collegiate Conference opener at Corban 2-1 on Friday afternoon.
Taking advantage of two own goals off the Yotes (1-2-2, 0-1-0 CCC), the Warriors (4-2-0, 1-0-0 CCC) were able to put a pair of tallies on the board which would be officially credited to Hannah Hersh and Chanel Garcia.
Hersh found the net in the 19th minute off of a Kayla Sorrick assist and Garcia contributed a goal in the 74th minute thanks to a Katie Hiller find.
C of I was led by the aggressiveness of
Madison Glascock, who took three shots in the match. Glascock ensured a strong start to the second half with her first goal of the season in the 51st minute when she was set up by
Payton Anderson.
Multiple 1-v-1 opportunities presented themselves for the Yotes, who managed six shots on goal for the contest. In addition to Glascock,
Brynna Herridge,
Emma Powley and
Brooklyn Ruwe each targeted the net with shots on goal.
In total, Corban outshot C of I with 17 shots compared to eight for the Yotes.
The duo of Garcia and Annouscka Kordom each finished with three shots to ignite the attack for the Warriors. Four additional players had two shots each to complement the tandem.
It is a quick turnaround before the next match for C of I, as the Yotes will travel to take on Northwest Christian in Eugene on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. PT.
