COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. -
Jordyn Boswell recorded a match-high 13 kills and the College of Idaho logged a season-high 11 aces, as the Yotes swept a Cascade Conference match-up with Walla Walla University at Windemuth Court.
The Yotes (7-3, 2-1 CCC), who moved to No. 20 in the today's NAIA Top-25 Coaches Poll, earned the 26-24, 25-15, 25-15 win - improving to 9-0 all time against WWU.
C of I seemingly had Set 1 in hand, building a 22-16 lead on a
Jade Warren kill. However, the Wolves (1-8, 0-3), who snapped a 45-match losing streak earlier in the week, got a pair of aces in a 8-1 run that gave the hosts set-point. The Yotes answered, getting consecutive
Ashley Pagan kills and a Warren winner to close out the set.
The Coyotes dominated the final two sets, breaking a 9-9 tie in Set 2 with a 6-point surge to cruise to the win, while in Set 3, a string of three
Alyssa Espley aces in a 10-1 run, helped C of I close out the match.
Boswell hit at a stellar .360 clip, with Warren adding eight kills and four blocks and Pagan finishing with seven kills and 10 digs.
Abigail Guinn had 22 assists, with
Drew Dobney leading all players with 16 digs.
WWU was paced by six Sarah Halversen kills.
The Yotes return to action tomorrow night with a Top-20 match-up at No. 8 Eastern Oregon.
