VANCOUVER, B.C. - College of Idaho could not hold an early lead, as British Columbia completed a 4-game sweep of the Yotes with a 7-2 victory at Tourmaline West Stadium.
The T-Birds (27-18, 22-9 NAIA West) used a 4-run fourth inning to erase a 1-0 C of I lead, with three UBC pitchers limiting the Yotes to just five hits on the day.
The Coyotes (16-35, 10-22) manufactured a run in the third inning, as
Alec Hopkins walked, moved to second on a sacrifice hit, stole third and scored on a
Chase Labbe sacrifice fly. An inning later, UBC took the lead with a 4-run frame, with Liam Vulcano providing the big blow with a 2-run single. In the fifth, Ty Penner hit a solo homer and Branden Weger launched a 2-run shot to put the game away.
UBC starter Daniel Sereda went six innings, striking out six, with Jason Valcke going 3-for-3 in the win.
Matthew Clay had a double and an eighth inning solo homer, his fourth of the season, to lead the Yotes.
