BELLEVUE, Wash. -
Colette Robert struck out 10 in the opener and
Hannah McNerney tossed a 1-hit shutout in the nightcap, as the College of Idaho swept a pair of 1-run games at Northwest University tonight at the Bellevue CC softball field.
Robert picked up her 12th win of the year in a 3-2 victory, while McNerney allowed only a first inning double in a 1-0 win in Game 2.
The Eagles (8-18, 4-10 CCC) took a 1-0 lead in Game 1 on a second inning Isabella Gonzalez single, but the Yotes answered in the fifth on a two-run
Marissa Maddox double, extending the lead to 3-1 on a Maddox RBI single in the seventh. NU scored an unearned run in the seventh and had the tying run in scoring position - but Robert got a pop up, a strikeout and a ground out to end the threat.
Five different Coyotes (24-6, 11-3) had multi-hit games - with
Haley Loffer going 3-for-4, with Maddox,
Kylie Smith,
Trystin Crofts and
Bentli Corta all recording two hits.
Game 2 was dominated by McNerney, who worked around the one hit and four walks to notch her fifth win. Sam Parisio doubled and moved to third in the first, but the right-hander worked out of trouble and did not allow a runner to third base the rest of the game.
C of I scored their lone run in the fourth, as Loffer walked and scored on a Crofts RBI double. Loffer finished the game with three stolen bases and Crofts added two.
The two teams close out the series tomorrow with an 11 a.m. (PT) doubleheader.
