Harwood Scores 17, Yotes Blast Evergreen 77-40

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Emily Harwood tied a career-high with 17 points as the College of Idaho completed a season sweep of the Evergreen State College, blowing out the Geoducks, 77-40, inside Constantino Recreation Center.

The Yotes (12-11, 8-7 CCC) opened the game on a 21-4 run and were never threatened – taking a 26-point halftime lead and building the margin as big as 44 points.

Facing a short-handed Geoducks (0-18, 0-14) that has lost 18-straight games, C of I scored 12 of the first 14 points – with Harwood scoring eight points in the first quarter and Kaylee Krusemark beating the buzzer with a 3-pointer, giving the Coyotes the 17-point edge. Alyssa Case and Jocelyn Cook-Cox added jumpers in an 8-0 run midway through the second quarter, helping C of I take a 40-14 halftime lead.

Madison Holly scored eight quick points in the third quarter, part of an 11-2 run to open the second half – with a Makenna Schritter lay-up extending the lead to 71-27 early in the fourth quarter.

Four C of I players scored in double-figures – as Krusemark scored 13 and both Holly and Mackenzie Royce scored 10. Case had nine points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals, with Cook-Cox scoring four points with a team-high 10 rebounds. The Yotes made 49-percent of their field goals and held a 46-36 rebound margin.

Evergreen, which had just seven players in uniform, got 14 points and 10 rebounds from Merrily Jones and 13 points from Deidra Miller.

The Yotes head to Northwest University for a 5:30 p.m. (PT) showdown tomorrow, securing a postseason berth with a victory over the Eagles.
