Late Surge Sparks Lady Owls to 59-48 Win over Yotes

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech took the lead for the first time 30 seconds into the fourth quarter and finished the game on a 27-7 run to defeat The College of Idaho 59-48 on Friday night.
 
Down 41-32 with 5:13 on the clock in the third quarter, the Lady Owls (9-4, 3-0 CCC) rattled off a 9-0 run over the next three minutes and carried that forward the rest of the way, holding the Yotes (4-8, 2-1 CCC) to four points in the final quarter.
 
It was a strong start for the Yotes in Klamath Falls, with the visitors jumping out to an early 10-2 advantage and holding leads as large as 12 in the first half.
 
Leading 35-25 at halftime, C of I would face a stingy defensive effort from OIT in the second half, as the Lady Owls forced 14 turnovers while holding the Yotes to 5-of-20 shooting (25 percent) over the final 20 minutes.
 
Three players scored in double-digits for OIT, led by the 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting from Courtney Clemmer and the 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting for Amanda Constant, who also had eight rebounds and four assists.
 
Mackenzie Royce-Radford led the scoring for C of I with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, while also adding four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal. Kiersten Rasmussen posted seven points and Lexi Mitchell, Makenna Schritter and Emily Harwood each finished with five points.
 
OIT ended the night with a 35-26 edge on the boards, while also shooting 20-of-47 from the floor (43 percent). After shooting 13-of-29 (45 percent) in the first half, C of I finished the night 18-of-49 (37 percent) for the game.
 
Cascade Conference play continues tomorrow night in Ashland against Southern Oregon.
