COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Four College of Idaho runners finished in the lead pack, helping the College of Idaho cruise to their second-straight Cascade Conference Men's Cross Country title, as the Coyotes rolled to the victory in the event presented by U.S. Bank at Middlefield Golf Course.

The Coyotes, ranked No. 2 nationally, had four runners cross the finish line before any other school had their second-fastest runner complete the 8,000-meter circuit, recording 43 place-points, well ahead of second place (and No. 5 ranked) Southern Oregon (59). The C of I lead quartet had a gap of just 11 seconds between the first and fourth finishing racers.
All-Americans
Cole Campbell and
Alex Martin led the C of I contingent, as Campbell placed fourth (25:27) and Martin fifth (25:28), with
Josh Frey a close ninth (25:37) and defending CCC champ,
Marcos Cervantes in tenth (25:38). All four were honored on the All-CCC team, as was head coach
Austin Basterrechea, who was named CCC Coach of the Year.
Ian Jackson had a solid circuit, finishing as C of I's fifth scoring runner (26:12) – placing 15th, while both
Braden Heath (26:14) and
Bryce Odegard (26:24) had Top-25 finishes.
Riley Sine of Northwest earned the individual title with a time of 25:15, ahead of Southern's Brandon Kelsey (25:19) and Alex Navarro (25:21) of Eastern Oregon.
With their win, the Yotes earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championships in Vancouver, Wash., set for Nov. 22.
