Rasmussen Hits Late Jumper to Secure 65-61 Win

CALDWELL, Idaho – Makenna Schritter tallied 14 points and hauled in nine rebounds to lead The College of Idaho to a 65-61 defeat of Linfield in the final non-conference game of the season on Saturday.

Schritter and Mackenzie Royce-Radford sparked the offensive attack for the Yotes (2-7) with 14 points each, while Kate Renfro played 21 crucial minutes off the bench, scoring nine points and bringing in five boards.

Kiersten Rasmussen hit a clutch jumper on the last offensive possession for C of I to extend the lead to four points and secure the victory. All four of Rasmussen's points came late in the contest and gave the Yotes a needed spark.

Linfield (4-3) utilized a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds from Molly Danielson to keep it close throughout, with Kory Oleson and Delaney Ragan each adding 12 points of their own.

It was a busy day for C of I on the glass, outrebounding the Wildcats 47-37 and grabbing 20 offensive rebounds. In addition to Schritter and Renfro's efforts in the rebounding department, Lexi Mitchell and Emily Harwood each battled on the boards as well, with six rebounds of their own.

The Yotes shot 22-of-68 from the floor (32 percent) and Linfield was 21-of-48 (44 percent). Free throw shooting hurt the Wildcats in the close loss, with the team shooting 13-of-25 (52 percent) at the stripe.

Carroll won 69-60 over Eastern Oregon in the earlier game of the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Classic. Danielle Wagner (19), Sienna Swannack (10), Christine Denny (10) and Maddie Geritz (10) each contributed double figure scoring outputs for the Fighting Saints in the win.

The win for C of I ends the non-conference slate on a high note, as the Yotes will now play host to Warner Pacific and Multnomah next weekend to begin Cascade Conference action.
