CALDWELL, Idaho – It was a defensive battle on Friday evening inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center, as Carroll College defeated The College of Idaho 48-34.
The Fighting Saints (5-3) battled through an 0-for-13 night from the perimeter and 23 turnovers to come away on top thanks in large part to 18 offensive rebounds, which led to 13 second chance points. The visitors were stellar defensively, forcing the Yotes (1-7) to turn the ball over 27 times.
Borah graduate Maddie Geritz was impressive off the bench for Carroll, scoring 10 points and grabbing six rebounds. Christine Denny shot 6-of-13 from the floor, finishing with 16 points and 10 boards.
It was a tough shooting night for C of I against the No. 7 ranked team in the country, as the Fighting Saints held the Yotes to 14-of-51 shooting (28 percent) from the floor and 2-of-12 (17 percent) on 3-pointers.

Kiersten Rasmussen made a positive impact in her first start of the season, chipping in six points, grabbing five rebounds, blocking a shot and adding a steal.
Makenna Schritter battled on the glass as well, hauling in six boards from the guard position.
In earlier action in the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Classic, Eastern Oregon knocked off Linfield 85-62. Megan Still, Rachel Fielder and Beverly Slater combined for 56 of the 85 points for the Mountaineers.
C of I hosts Linfield tomorrow night at 5 p.m. to round out the weekend. The Yotes won 70-66 earlier this month in McMinnville.
