CALDWELL, Idaho – Mesa Williams and Mollie Peoples combined for 38 points to lead Montana Tech to a 64-53 victory over The College of Idaho on Saturday night in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
After pouring in 31 points during the first meeting of the season between the two teams, Williams went 9-of-20 from the floor to lead her team to a home-and-away sweep for the year.
The Orediggers (7-1) jumped out to a 37-25 lead at the half, but were outscored by the Yotes (1-6) in the second half 28-27.
Mackenzie Royce-Radford paced the scoring for C of I with 13 points on a 4-of-11 effort from the floor, including draining three shots from beyond the perimeter.
Lexi Mitchell added 11 points and five rebounds, with
Kaylee Krusemark contributing 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Montana Tech took advantage of 27 turnovers by the Yotes and finished with 21 points off of turnovers. The Orediggers struggled to hold on to the ball themselves, with 21 turnovers on the night.
It was a wire-to-wire victory for the visitors from Butte, who never trailed and led by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter.
C of I continues a long home stretch by hosting the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Classic next Friday and Saturday, which will feature Carroll, Linfield and Eastern Oregon. The Yotes have games scheduled against the Fighting Saints and the Wildcats.
