Coyote Soccer Season Ends in CCC Quarterfinals

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – College of Idaho saw their 2019 men's soccer season come to a close in the quarterfinals of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, as No. 18 Corban scored four goals in a nine minute span of the second half to pull away for a 6-1 victory at Les Schwab Soccer Park.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, the Yotes (8-9) got momentum early in the second half, as Bekir Cinac buried a 30-yard free kick – his sixth goal of the season – to pull C of I within a goal.

However, the CCC regular-season champion Warriors (15-0-2) used a flurry of offense to take command. Yuki Onishi started the run at the end of the 60th minute with an unassisted tally and a minute later, Charles Cleyton slotted a pass to Matheus Giron for a marker and a 4-1 lead.

Nate Sherwood made it 5-1 in the 68th minute with a goal off an Onishi pass, with Cleyton finishing a feed from Giron a minute later to cap the run.

Corban held a 23-7 edge in shots – including nine on frame.

The loss ends the careers of seven senior student-athletes, while Corban advances to meet Evergreen in tomorrow's semifinals.
