CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho and Carroll College battled for 110 minutes to a 1-1 draw at Simplot Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Alexa Rierson started the scoring in the 43rd minute for the Yotes (3-3-3, 2-2-1 CCC) off a cross from
Mackenzie Malach into the center of the box in heavy traffic.
C of I held the Fighting Saints (4-5-2, 1-4-1 CCC) scoreless until the 68th minute when McKenna Payne fired a 55-yard free kick into the middle of the box for Taryn Neameyer, who put it past keeper
Kylee Atkins to even the score at 1-1.
Multiple opportunities presented themselves for the Yotes in the second overtime period off of
Emma Powley corner kicks, including a
Brynna Herridge header from the top of the six-yard box in the 105th minute which was saved by Carroll goalie Sydney Green. In the 108th minute, Powley placed another corner kick towards Herridge. This time, Herridge went for the try with her feet, with the ball sailing just over the top of the net.
Atkins had four saves for the Yotes in the draw, including facing back-to-back shots off corners from the Fighting Saints in the 56th minute.
Kaya Evans was sensational on the back line once again, preventing multiple dangerous looks from Carroll with her feet.
The Yotes were held without a shot from the 41st minute in the first half all the way until the second overtime period when the team tallied four. Carroll outshot C of I by a total of 15-10 for the match.
After a stretch of three home matches in a row, the Yotes will now head on the road to play Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech next Friday and Saturday.
