Ramon Goal Leads Yotes to Key Road Point in Draw at SOU

ASHLAND, Ore. – Kaitlyn Ramon scored her first career goal to help earn the College of Idaho a 1-1 draw and a key road point at Southern Oregon on Friday afternoon at Raider Stadium.

Ramon, a freshman from Rocky Mountain High in Meridian, found the net after being knocked down in the box and then chipping the ball through in the 83rd minute of action to give the Yotes (3-3-4, 2-2-2 CCC) a 1-0 lead late.

The Raiders (5-3-2, 2-1-2 CCC) responded with an unassisted goal off the foot of Michala Denn at the start of the 89th minute.

With the score evened up at 1-1, neither team would tally another goal the rest of the way, including two overtime periods.

Kylee Atkins was impressive in the net for C of I with eight saves and just one goal yielded. Atkins withstood an onslaught on the net in the first overtime period, including facing five shots from SOU.

SOU finished with 21 shots for the match, while the Yotes put up eight. Chloe Teets, Emma Powley and Madison Glascock each had two shots for C of I and Baylee Touey led the Raiders with seven total and three on goal.

The draw earns the Yotes an important road point against a team that had won three straight contests against C of I.

Brian Smith's team now heads east to Klamath Falls for a battle with Oregon Tech tomorrow afternoon.
