BILLINGS, Mont. – A pair of first half goals guided Rocky Mountain to a 2-0 win over The College of Idaho on Sunday afternoon in Cascade Conference action.
The Yotes (3-5-4, 2-4-2 CCC) allowed two goals in the first 45 minutes for the first time this season in the loss against the Battlin' Bears (8-3-1, 5-2-1 CCC).
Each goal for Rocky came late in the first half, with Tiara Duford scoring first in the 36th minute from the left side of the box and Lauryn Gamache adding an exclamation point with a goal of her own late in the 45th minute.
C of I was able to get behind the Rocky defense on multiple occasions early in the match thanks in large part to the speed of
Kaitlyn Ramon and
Madison Glascock, however the Yotes were not able capitalize on those opportunities.
Neither team found the net in the final 45 minutes, as Maia Wetzel put the finishing touches on her seventh shutout of the season.
The Battlin' Bears posted a 16-12 advantage in shots and were led on the attack by Alexis Robbins, who took five shots, including three on frame.
Brynna Herridge and
Mackenzie Malach each posted three shots to pace the Yotes.
Sunday marks the final time that C of I will head to the road during the regular season, with the Yotes finishing with a 1-4-2 mark away from Simplot Stadium.
A four-game home stretch begins on Friday against Evergreen, a team which C of I is battling for position with in the conference standings.
