Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A flurry of second period goals propelled the Coyotes past the Walla Walla University Wolves with a score of 5-1 at the College Place Soccer Stadium in Walla Walla.
The Coyotes (2-3-3, 1-3-1 CCC) used a lopsided 27-7 edge in total shots, including a 19-5 edge in shots on frame, to dominate the Wolves and pick up their first conference win for the season.
Despite an early strike by the Wolves (0-10-0, 0-6-0 CCC) in the 17th minute of the 1st period, C of I responded well and dominated the match by scoring five goals, all by separate Coyote players. In the 35th minute, Andy Sanchez leveled the first period score by launching a free kick into the center of the goal.
In the second period, C of I broke through in terms of scoring. In the 54th minute, the Coyotes pushed their lead to 2-1 after Ahmet Huremovic scored off of the assist by Jack O'Leary. Then the freshman, Lucas Thorne, headed in his first collegiate goal in the 58th minute off a cross into the box.
Bekir Cinac then joined in on the scoring in the 77th minute after dribbling past two defenders and drilling a ball into the upper right hand side of the goal. Finally, in the 82nd minute, Jhonier Caicedo scored the fifth and final goal for the Coyotes off of a pass from Adam Prskavec.
Parker Billings made just one save in his entire 90 minutes at goalkeeper.
The Wolves scored their only goal in the first period from an Eric Baer shot off of an assist by Emmett Sample.
