ASHLAND, Ore. - Despite dominating play for the final 45 minutes, the College of Idaho could not put away multiple opportunities to tie the game, as Southern Oregon held on for a 1-0 victory at Raider Stadium.
Makena Totushek scored just two minutes into the contest for the Raiders (4-1-1, 2-0 CCC), with SOU making the goal stand up the rest of the way.
The Lady Yotes (3-2-1, 0-2) had a 13-7 edge in shots after the break - including a 49th minute drive from
Madison Glascock that banged off the crossbar and a five-second sequence in the 73rd minute, where attempts inside the box by
Emily Aspden and
Cameron Coyle were blocked by the SOU defense and a rebound shot from
Maddie Brown was collected by keeper Kailey Lemon. Five minutes later, a 25-yard free kick by
Jocelyn Cook-Cox missed high by inches.
Southern took the lead on their first shot of the day, as a failed clearance by the Yotes found the foot of Totushek, who lined a left-footed shot into the left corner of the net for the lone goal of the day.
Both keepers were solid, as Lemon had four saves for the Raiders, while the YotesÂ
Shae Waters made eight stops.
C of I returns to action next Saturday with a road date at Rocky Mountain - their seventh-straight road game to start the season.
