Lady Yotes Continue Dominance of Evergreen

CALDWELL, Idaho – Jackie van Vliet had a match-high 15 kills leading the College of Idaho to their 18th-straight home win over The Evergreen State College, as the Lady Yotes topped the Geoducks in three sets inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The No. 14 ranked Lady Yotes (10-4, 5-1 CCC) won for the fourth-straight time in the 25-17, 25-23, 25-23 victory, improving to 18-0 all-time at home against Evergreen.

Three C of I players had double-digit kills, with the Lady Yotes hitting at .252 for the night – adding seven service aces.

The Yotes jumped out to a 10-2 lead in Set 1 – getting two Ashley Pagan aces and a third from Taylor Alexander – and eased to the win.

The Geoducks (6-9, 4-2 CCC), off to their best start to start a season in Cascade Conference play, got three-straight Natalie Taylor aces in an 8-2 surge to start Set 2. C of I battled back to take a 16-15 lead on a Pagan kill and after eight ties, Pagan followed an Evergreen double-contact with a kill to complete the comeback.

Set 3 was equally tight, as the Geoducks got a kill from Sierra Wolff and a C of I attack error to take a 22-21 lead. The Yotes proved to be too much – as kills from van Vliet and Pagan, coupled by an Evergreen hitting error, helped the Coyotes close out the win.

Both Alexander and Pagan had double-doubles for the Yotes, Alexander with 11 kills and 15 digs, with Pagan recording 10 kills, 10 digs and three aces. Marija Djonovic had another solid outing, finishing with 39 assists.

Kehualani Keka and Renita Gray led Evergreen with nine kills apiece, with Wolff finishing with 28 assists and seven digs.

The Lady Yotes hit the road next weekend with matches at Northwest Christian and Corban.
