KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Goals early in each half were the ticket for Oregon Tech, as the Lady Owls opened up Cascade Conference play with a 2-0 victory over College of Idaho at the OIT Soccer Field.
Tech (3-1-1, 1-0) handed C of I their first loss of 2018 – scoring just three minutes into the match and adding a goal less than two minutes into the second half.
The Owls benefitted from a perfect rebound off an Emily Hillestad shot that clanged off the right post, finding the foot of the charging Ellie Quercia who flicked home the counter for a 1-0 lead.
The hosts did not allow a shot on frame in the first half by the Lady Yotes (3-1-1, 0-1) and added to their margin at the end of the 47th minute, as Amanda Seward headed home a Cassidy Gosvener corner kick for her first goal of the year.
C of I put pressure on in the second half, but only two of their six shots were on goal – both saved by OIT keeper Jenna Stiehr.
The Yotes have tomorrow off in preparation for a Sunday afternoon match at Southern Oregon.
