Box Score TAHOE VISTA, Calif. –
Cameron Coyle scored a pair of goals to lead the College of Idaho to a 4-2 victory over Sierra Nevada College in the women's soccer season opener for both teams.
C of I unofficially had a 10-2 edge in shots - with the four goals scored their highest total since a 4-2 victory over Northwest Christian in 2015.
Coyle took a cross from
Emily Aspden in the fifth minute and slotted home the opening goal of the match, only to see the Eagles (0-1) tally an unassisted strike 10 minutes later to draw even.
The Yotes (1-0) broke the stalemate with a three-goal flurry in the second half, as
Madison Glascock made a great run down the right side and played a perfect ball inside the box to the foot of
Emma Powley for the go-ahead goal. C of I put the game away with two goals in a 30-second span, as Aspden made a long run in the 70th minute and blasted home a low shot to the right corner of the net. Off the restart, Coyle intercepted a pass and used a 1-v-1 move to elude the SNC keeper for her second goal of the day.
Keepers
Kylee Atkins and
Shae Waters split time in goal for the Lady Yotes in the victory.
C of I returns to action tomorrow with an 11 a.m. match at Simpson.
