CALDWELL, Idaho - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced
Kyndra Lyons earned first team Academic All-America. The award is one of the most prestigious awards a student-athlete can achieve as it recognizes elite athletes and top students. Only 11 student-athletes in the NAIA earn first team honors. Kaya Evans is the only other women's soccer player to receive the distinction.
The Academic All-America® program, established in 1952 by the CSC, is the premier honor recognizing college student-athletes who excel both athletically and academically. The award is reserved for those performing at an elite level in their sport, in the classroom, and their communities. The award spans all NCAA divisions, the NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian institutions.
On the pitch, the defensive midfielder dominates oppositions. Her free kick game winner in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship game earned her a third consecutive CCC tournament title to go along with three consecutive regular season titles. The senior was selected as first team All-CCC and helped her team make the NAIA Final Site for the second consecutive year. Her campaign included a pair of goals and six assists.The senior's strong tackles and decisive interceptions kept opponents on their heels all season. Lyons finished her storied career with 63 starts and 4,253 minutes on the field.
Lyons excellence in the classroom matches her on field performance. The anthropology and sociology major has maintained a 3.94 GPA in her time at C of I.
