Robert Leads Lady Yotes to Split with No. 13 Corban

CALDWELL, Idaho – Colette Robert tossed a complete game five-hitter in today's second game, helping the College of Idaho to a key Cascade Conference split with No. 13 ranked Corban University at Symms Field.

The Lady Yotes (18-17, 8-12 CCC), battling for the sixth and final playoff spot in the CCC Championships, dropped the opener in six innings, 13-1, before riding the left arm of Robert to a 4-2 victory in the second game.

C of I jumped to a 4-0 lead in the nightcap – striking first on a solo Taylor Eakle homer in the second, her sixth of the season. Trystin Crofts singled home Courtney Ellis from second base in the third to double the lead, while fourth inning RBI singles from Delaney Atkins and Ellis pushed the margin to 4-0.

It was all Robert would need, as the junior picked up her 12th victory of 2018. She allowed a pair of runs in the sixth, including a Sam Woodley solo home run – but stranded a runner in scoring position to end the threat and worked a 1-2-3 seventh to close out the win.

Both Ellis and Crofts had two hits in the win for C of I – part of a nine-hit attack for the hosts.

The Warriors (24-9, 14-4) used two big innings in the opener to earn the run-rule shortened victory.

Jessie Isham smashed a go-ahead two-run homer to jumpstart a five-run fourth inning rally – part of a 4-for-4, three RBI game. Corban batted around in the sixth, plating six runs, including a two-run single from Tatum Prechtel – one of five hits in the inning.

Sabrina Boyd worked around four hits for her 14th win – making just one mistake, a second inning solo homer by the Yotes Marissa Maddox.

The two teams close out the weekend series with an 11 a.m. doubleheader – part of First Responders Day.
